Hoptober Golden Ale

B+ / 3.9
Hoptober Golden Ale

Five hops and four malts make Hoptober Golden Ale a veritable cornucopia of the earth. Pale and wheat malt are mashed with rye and oats to create a medium-bodied ale with a creamy mouthfeel.

Centennial, Cascade, Sterling, Willamette, and Glacier hops form a bonfire of citrus notes, fruity cheers and a bold finale.

Seasonal in August, September, October.

Appearance – Clear and honey colored, with a couple fingers of dense white head that dissipates quite slowly.

Smell – Pungent citrus zest, earthy flowers, slightly sweet with a hint of grain. Literally made my mouth water.

Taste – Not nearly as strong as the smell. Good mixture of earthy and citrusy hops. Nice mid-palate bite from the bitterness of the hops. Hint of sweetness at the end from the malt, but not overwhelming.

Mouthfeel – Light to medium bodied, lighter on the carbonation than I would have expected, with a little shock from the bitterness (not too much though).

Drinkability – It smells amazing…I’d drink this just to smell it. However, the taste doesn’t quite follow through. While the flavor profiles are nice, they’re too light and seem watered down.
