B- / 3.2

Appearance – Reddish-amber, clear, almost no head from a fairly smooth pour.

Smell – Dark fruits, sweet malt (hints of caramel), hints of light hops, and something almost metallic.

Taste – The dark fruits and the sweet caramelly malts hit you first, with a small amount of earthy hops that tries to balance things out a bit, and hints of chocolate.

Mouthfeel – Full bodied, light carbonation, smooth.

Drinkability – It’s not quite as dark and warming like you would normally picture a winter ale, but even ignoring that I feel like it falls a little flat. Kind of a disappointment from Flying Dog, especially for a brew that is supposed to be a “psycho in the pack”.
