Mothership Wit

B- / 3.1
Mothership Wit

Their first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to the Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Appearance – Pours a murky pale yellow with plenty of sediment. Thick white-yellow head that dissipates almost completely leaving almost no lacing on the glass as you drink.

Smell – Wheat, orange zest, slightly medicinal herbal smell, light spices.

Taste – Wheat, cloves, and orange zest.

Mouthfeel – Medium bodied, mild carbonation, fairly smooth.

Drinkability – A little heavy on the spice, a little light on almost everything else. I’m not a huge fan of most wheat beers, they always seem like they fall flat and this is no exception.
