Appearance – Dark red-brown, clear, small amount of tan head that leaves sparse lacing.

Smell – Slightly smokey malt, light hops, hints of apple.

Taste – The hops are a lot stronger than on the nose, and their pine flavor blends well with the smokey malt. There’s also a tart apple note toward the end.

Mouthfeel – Smooth at first, good even carbonation, then a hit of tartness that’s not enough to make you pucker, but definitely there.

Drinkability – This is a really great beer. The original was very good in it’s own right, but the additional aging and the oak really kick it up another notch.
