Trappistes Rochefort 10

A / 4.6
Trappistes Rochefort 10

Reddish-brown colour, with a very compact head and an aroma of figs, feels like honey in the mouth. The alcohol profile is a major component in the flavour of this rich ale. It is very similar to 6 and 8, but has much more of everything. Some may find the high alcohol content to be disagreeable.

A / 4.6

Appearance – It pours a dark brown with a couple fingers of tan head that is quite stiff but does fade eventually. It has some sediment that swirls through the glass and then settles at the bottom as well as getting stuck in the head.

Smell – The smell is mellow but malty sweet with yeast as well as some dark fruits. The high alcohol content is is noticeable here, but only slightly.

Taste – The flavors are really complex. The main flavors are sweet malt and tangy yeast. It has a little bit if a bite at the end with a slight lingering sour note.

Mouthfeel – The medium-full body seems like it matches the appearance of the beer. The alcohol and high carbonation really gives it a pretty aggressive feel.

Drinkability – I love the punch of the alcohol and carbonation, as well as the flavor. While it’s more of a sipper, it definitely made me want to keep sipping.
