For starters, I have never been able to tell you the name or the strength of the beer I drink. So I can’t really give you a baseline to compare against. Most of the beers I know have their own distinctive smells. Some of these beers are amazing and others are just plain weird.

I would say that for a novice beer drinker, drinking a lot of beer is a pretty good idea (unless you are a beer snob). Most of the beers I have drank in the past year have been great- I actually feel pretty good that I have tried so many different kinds of beer. Some are just plain weird, but I think that if I had to choose, I prefer the beers that are just plain weird.
