It was the first place on our search that we thought of (not an obvious choice), and it didn’t disappoint. Beer named after a czech city is the very definition of a Czech-friendly beer. I know I don’t need to tell you that a Czech beer name is going to have a good chance of being Czech.

We were just talking about how a Czech name helps you avoid the American-ization of a beer name, so the name of the beer was really a good choice. But really, the beer is actually named after a town in the Czech Republic, and it’s not Czech.

The name is actually a play on two words. The first is “brouňka” which means “dried fruit” or “dried fruit cake.” The second is “brouňský” which means “dry fruit” or “dry fruit cake.
